Mindray’s M-Elite Program in Jakarta: A Milestone in Pelvic Floor Health Advancement

2024-12-26

In recent years, public concern over women's pelvic floor health issues has grown significantly. Pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD), characterized by its high prevalence and significant impact on quality of life, has earned the ominous title of the "silent killer" in women's health. In diagnosing PFD, the role of pelvic floor ultrasound examinations is crucial and cannot be overstated.

From December 4-5, 2024, the latest M-Elite event in Jakarta, Indonesia, co-organized by Mindray and the renowned public hospital RSCM (Rumah Sakit Cipto Mangunkusumo), marked a pivotal advancement in pelvic floor health across Southeast Asia. The event drew over thirty experts and scholars from China, Indonesia, Vietnam and Iraq to witness the Pelvic Floor Ultrasound Scanning Consensus Ceremony, delving into pelvic floor health issues and discussing clinical technological innovations.

Setting the Bar for the Future

China's obstetric ultrasound sector is currently in a vibrant phase of development, marked by significant strides in the fetal screening and the adoption of cutting-edge gynecological technologies. Additionally, there has been progress in the assessment and rehabilitation of female pelvic floor disorders, aligning closely with international standards. In 2022, China took the lead in releasing expert consensus on pelvic floor ultrasound examination, establishing a new benchmark for the industry.

In the same year, Mindray officially launched a multicenter research initiative on "Combined Abdominal and Pelvic Ultrasound" at the 2022 SEA & SA Mindray Ultrasound Forum in Bali, Indonesia. Through the multicenter research initiative, Mindray is committed to creating a global platform between China and Indonesia, aiding in the diagnosis and research of pelvic floor diseases locally, and pushing the boundaries of ultrasound technology.

Building on this momentum, the M-Elite event in Jakarta marked a significant milestone in the multicenter research initiative, with the release of the "Consensus Statement on Standardization of Pelvic Floor Ultrasound in Southeast Asia." Initiated by Prof. Budi Iman Santoso and spearheaded by Prof. Xinling Zhang from the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, the consensus involved nearly 20 hospitals from China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand in its discussion and completion.

We are glad to cooperate with Mindray to hold this M-Elite program, which helps to provide a good platform to share the academic experience of women's healthcare. With the project of multicenter research and the output of the pelvic floor consensus, this should be a great contribution to the pelvic floor healthcare development in Indonesia.

Fostering Connections and Inspiration

M-Elite is a clinically focused academic program committed to sharing the latest cutting-edge technologies, knowledge, and innovative skills in the field of medical ultrasound. This time, Prof. Budi Iman Santoso from RSCM Hospital led his team of medical scholars in conducting courses and sharing sessions focused on the theory and practical aspects of pelvic floor ultrasound examinations with Mindray premium ultrasound system Nuewa R9.

In addition, the MiCo+ ultrasound IT platform allowed over 30 doctors to simultaneously view ultrasound screens and discuss clinical cases in real-time, regardless of location. This solution is especially effective in countries with uneven healthcare distribution, as it not only improves access to services for patients in remote areas but also enables experts to provide rapid medical assistance and guidance for less experienced doctors, enhancing the overall quality of care.
