Mindray has been a member of AXREM since 2022 and was a founding partner of the Patient Monitoring Special Focus Group established in 2023. The members represent some of the major manufacturers and suppliers of patient monitoring solutions. The group is currently convened by David Britton. Emma Polgar is also a member of AXREM’s Future Leaders Council which was formed in 2024 to serve as the voice of early career professionals within AXREM member sectors and aims to shape the future of the industry.

?

AXREM is a trade association that represents the suppliers of diagnostic medical imaging, radiotherapy, healthcare IT, Artificial Intelligence, software, care equipment and services, including patient monitoring, in the UK. AXREM lobbies the UK government, the NHS, and regulatory and standards agencies on behalf of its members to ensure policies and regulations make healthcare more efficient and cost-effective so patients receive even better care.

?

The AXREM priorities 2025-2027 are:

  • Patient safety first and foremost
  • Technology to Influence Patient Outcomes
  • Aligning with NHS Priorities – Reducing waiting times, Early Diagnosis, Efficient treatments & workflow
  • Influencing future healthcare
  • Increasing our visibility and government engagement – to help Government shape policies to deliver the best healthcare
  • Delivering a Sustainable Future
  • Working together to secure against and respond to Cyber Attacks

By addressing these priorities, the UK can improve access to radiotherapy and future-proof healthcare services with connected, efficient digital systems.

?

The event included speeches from Sally Edgington, AXREM CEO, Jeevan Gunaratnam, AXREM Chair and Head of Government Affairs/ Independent Sector at Philips, and Tim Farron, Members of Parliament who also sponsored the event.

?

There was also a fireside chat between Jeevan Gunaratnam and Andrea Rockall, Clinical Chair of Radiology at Imperial College and Hon Consultant Radiologist at both Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and The Royal Marsden Hospital and President of the European Society of Radiology. They spoke about the many challenges facing today’s NHS, how suppliers, healthcare professionals, and the government can work together to improve early diagnosis and patient outcomes.

?

Emma Polgar, Clinical Application Specialist at Mindray UK said, “It’s a privilege to be collaborating with AXREM and industry peers to improve standardisation, increase efficiency, and fair competition within the medical devices sector. This in turn benefits clinicians by establishing standards of operations, clinical guidance and allowing choice so they can deliver even better care to more patients.”

?

David Britton, Marketing Manager PMLS UK&I at Mindray UK said, “The Strategic Priorities set out by AXREM have come hot on the heels of the Patient Monitoring Manifesto which highlighted the challenges of consistency, connectivity, care innovation and cash savings. In both the manifesto and the strategic priorities, patient care is always at the centre, aligning with Mindray’s vision of better healthcare for all. I look forward to continuing this positive dialogue with key stakeholders”.

This event demonstrated the depth of our work now, and what an engaged community we have created. It was great to see representation from royal colleges and societies, charities, government departments, regulatory organisations, our partners and too many more to mention. Collaboration really is the key to AXREM delivering our strategic priorities and the launch is just the start, we have the hard work to do over the next 2 years, so watch this space!

UK Healthcare is under enormous pressure. As a member of AXREM we are prioritising working with politicians and policy makers so that suppliers like us can provide the solutions and equipment the NHS need. With the right policies and regulations in place, we can pass on savings to our customers. In turn, with the right equipment in place, clinicians can deliver even better patient outcomes.
